The EAAM hosts an annual research symposium to share information about the results of scientific studies, advancements in management or veterinary care, as well as training breakthroughs.  The symposium combines lectures from guest speakers with oral and poster presentations, as well as technical workshops aimed at reinforcing direct cooperation in all fields of marine mammal science.

Whether you are an active professional, or a student member, symposiums are open to all interested persons and we wish to foster innovation and new creative ideas within our industry. Symposia are held in March of each year and graciously hosted by our institutional members worldwide.

Previous proceedings

The annual Symposium is a cornerstone event of our organization, bringing together experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts from across Europe to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and advance best practices in zoological management, conservation, and education. Each year, the Symposium is graciously hosted by one of our esteemed institutional members, allowing participants to experience a variety of zoological settings and regional conservation perspectives.

In 2025, the annual Symposium was proudly hosted by ZooParc de Beauval in France, one of Europe’s most renowned zoological institutions. Known for its commitment to animal welfare, biodiversity conservation, and public engagement, Beauval provided an inspiring and dynamic setting for the exchange of ideas and innovations. The event featured a rich programme of keynote lectures, scientific presentations, workshops, and behind-the-scenes tours, offering valuable insights into both global and local challenges in the field.

Below, you can explore the outcomes of this and previous symposia. Click on the years to download the full symposium proceedings and access a wealth of knowledge shared by professionals dedicated to advancing zoological excellence.
